Sales Engineer
The Role Role Summary The job involves effective Sales process management, customer interface, coordination & relationship building with customers and ensuring that all aspects of the hire are handled in a smooth and systematic manner. A problem solving and resourceful orientation with round the clock availability for customers with an ability to resolve issues speedily is required for performing this key role. Principal Accountabilities & main tasks and activities * Identifies the development potential in accounts by studying current and previous business. Meets with key customer personnel, identifying and evaluating additional needs and analysing opportunities. * Initiates sales process by building relationships, qualifying potential and scheduling appointments. Maintains company databases as required (opportunity funnel, contact manager, etc.). Keeps in contact with decision makers to turnaround deals quickly. * Develops sales by making initial presentation, explaining product and service enhancements and additions and introducing new products, solutions and services. * Contributes information to sales strategies by evaluating current customer requirements, identifying needs to be filled, monitoring competitive products, analysing and relaying customer reactions and ability to up sell/cross-sell. * Enhances department and organisation reputation by accepting ownership for sales, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. * Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners, discovering and exploring opportunities. * Negotiates tender and contract terms to meet both client and company needs. * Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements, developing and negotiating * hires, integrating hire requirements with business operations. * Liaises with the client during the quotation process, adjusting quotes upon alterations. * Identifies, tracks and resolves hire-related issues, as and when they come up. * Takes full ownership and accountability for the customer, enabling contractors and suppliers to carry out their scope. * Maintains constant communication with the client with detailed updates on setup schedule and percentage completion to manage customer expectations effectively. * Coordinates off-hire/de-mobilisation management, by coordinating with the customer and with internal departments. * Ensures all paper work is presented to the client, signed and returned to the office for administrative control. * Ensures delivery of invoices to the client and that cheque collections are arranged timely. * Protects organisations value by keeping selected BER information confidential. * Services existing accounts, obtain orders, establishes new accounts by planning and organising daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets and other opportunities. * Utilises system functionalities to extract information/MIS for effectiveness in sales process and customer retention. Job Context The job requires superior levels of customer service, relationship management, product knowledge and commercial appreciation in order to maintain existing customers as well as acquire new customers. Further, a persuasive sales and business development orientation is critical to achieving success in this role. The job holder needs to have good technical understanding to suggest solutions to customers and penetrate new segments in the market.
