Director, Global Engineering Maintenance
Our client is a leading, innovative and pioneering International Container Port Management, Operations and Development Company supplying services to their client’s worldwide, including Asia, Australia, the Indian Subcontinent, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas.
Established for 30 years, as well as being singularly focused in their core competency of port management, operations and development our client is also open to expanding opportunities to do this in strategically located ports, in both developed and developing economies, diversifying geographically across the world’s continents. They specifically seek to develop, acquire, own and operate common user container terminals in markets with superior growth and profit potential. They pursue these even as they maintain and consolidate their leadership position in the markets where they now operate, and constantly improve their current operations with strategic investments in enhanced organization capability and human resources, state-of-the-art information technology, support structures and cargo handling equipment.
They are currently seeking a Director for Global Engineering Maintenance to be based at their HQ in Manila, Philippines. The role will also involve worldwide travel to the Group’s Subsidiaries.
Role Description:
The Director, Global Engineering Maintenance plans for and directs the development and preparation of programs, processes, plans, specifications, special studies and cost estimates for the Port’s capital improvement and major maintenance and repair projects.
Essential Functions:
• Directs the preparation of plans, specifications, designs, estimates and schedules for capital improvement and major maintenance and repair projects.
• Monitor progress of capital improvement and major maintenance and repair projects in the field.
• Evaluate the level of service provided as a basis for making improvements to productivity, cost effectiveness and periodic progress payments.
• Evaluate work methods and procedures, staffing, scheduling practices, productivity and costs.
• Develops and/or reviews policies, procedures and programs, identifies and resolves issues, and develops compliance and implementation strategies which affect the development of capital improvement plans, major maintenance of Port infrastructure and environmental compliance activity.
• Ensure all equipment and materials and procedures utilized during all the engineering functions are suitable, safe and in accordance with relevant standards and company requirements.
• Maintains and improves the Port’s preventative maintenance program, including developing and monitoring maintenance plans and related documentation systems.
• Lead the Maintenance Transformation process in all Client’s Terminals. Promoting the best practices and continues improvement in the industry.
• Develop and establish sustainable maintenance minimum standards for equipment and facilities.
• Develop and establish minimum standards for Inventories Administration.
• Develop and rollout the Company’s Capability Building Center.
• Conduct annual audits on maintenance and inventory processes at all Terminals within the group.
• Complete any other nominated tasks as requested by the VP Engineering or company directors.
Requirements
Skills and Abilities:
• Good communication skills.

• Strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
• Documentation and business writing.
• International Engineering Standards used within the industry for marine terminals and mechanical/equipment engineering works.
• Technical knowledge relating to the maintenance of terminal equipment such as port management equipment and cargo handling equipment.
• Computer literate and able to understand software such as MS Office (outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point), AutoCAD, MS Project.
• Fluency and understanding of English language both spoken and written formats.
Knowledge and Experience:
• Familiarity and detailed knowledge of port infrastructure considered an advantage.
• Experience leading RCM and 5S processes is definitely an advantage.
Professional Qualification and Training:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic Engineering.
